Professor of Immunology at Aix-Marseille University and the Marseille Public Hospitals | SVP, Chief Scientific Officer at Innate Pharma

Eric Vivier is a professor of immunology at Aix-Marseille and hospital practitioner at Marseille Public University Hospital. He is also Chief Scientific Officer at Innate Pharma and coordinator of the Marseille Immunopôle cluster.

In 1993, after a post-doctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School (Dana-Farber Cancer Institute), he joined the CIML where he founded the team “Natural Killer cells and Innate Immunity” in 1996. His researches helped to elucidate the role of NK cells and more broadly to decipher the molecular mechanisms controlling their activation. They also opened the way for the development of new immunotherapeutic strategies against cancer and inflammatory diseases.

A member of the Académie de Médecine, the Institut de France and the European Research Council Starting Grant’s Committee of Experts, Eric Vivier is the author of 11 patents and over 250 scientific publications. Recipient of numerous honors and awards, he has been selected for the Thomson Reuters 2015 list of the world’s most highly cited researchers.
