Jean-Yves BLAY is Professor of Medical Oncology at the Université Claude Bernard in Lyon (UCBL), General Director and Head of the Medical Oncology Department and Translational Research Pole of the Centre Leon Berard and President of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC). Jean-Yves BLAY obtained his medical degree in 1990, specializing in oncology, and his PhD in 1994 from the UCBL. He also holds a Masters in Biological Oncology (Paris VI, 1988) and Statistics (Paris XI, 1989).
Jean-Yves BLAY is an active member of the European Society of Medical Oncology, the Connective Tissue Oncology Society, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Association for Cancer Research, the American Society of Hematology, the French Society of Cancer (board member) and the European Association of Cancer Research.
He is the co-author of more than 500 peer-reviewed articles, principal investigator of numerous multicenter prospective clinical studies and co-investigator of numerous clinical trial (Phase I, II and III).
Jean-Yves BLAY has served as Chairman of the French Sarcoma Group and currently acts as the network Director of Conticanet, a network of excellence funded by the EU commission dedicated to novel treatment approaches in sarcomas. He is the Director of the French NCI (INCa) supported Lyon Integrated research site in Cancer (LYRIC), one of the 2 integrated sites for innovative research in cancer created so far in France. Jean-Yves BLAY is also Director of the Institute for Clinical Science at CLB and head of the Immunity and Cancer team in the CRCL.
